It’s my mission to make sure every book I sell has a guaranteed enjoyment factor, but why take just my word for it? I’ve recruited a team of fellow children’s book lovers to my Parent Panel to provide honest book reviews and share their bookish lives and reading tips.
I’m so pleased with the fabulous group of parents who signed up to my very first intake to the Books & Pieces Parent Panel. Read on to find out more about them all…
I am April, mummy to Rosie (2 years 10 months) and Eloise (4 months). I live in a small village called Chapeltown on the outskirts of Manchester and love being involved with the local community. Last year I set up my website Prenderland Books to inspire children to read and have even more fun with books.
My favourite childhood book has to be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. I love all of his books but I particularly like this one because of how close the family are! I also used to really enjoy reading the Famous Five Books, Judy Bloom Books and the fantastic books by Dick-King Smith (Sheep-Pig was a particular favourite). Now that I have two little girls myself I have developed a very strong love for picture books. My absolute favourite is Julia Donaldson’s Paper Dolls. The rhythm of the book is wonderful and it is such a heart-warming yet sad story.
I’m Cassie and I live in Lancashire with my 3-year-old daughter Lily. She is the main focus of my blog and my life. We love books and my blog Lily’s Little Learners is all about learning so books are a huge part of it and we do monthly book reviews.
Hi! My name is Charlotte and I live in Shrewsbury, Shropshire with my daughters, Isabella (5) and Florence (9 months). I loved reading as a child and would always be on the lookout for a new adventure tale in the library. I also enjoyed reading my favourite stories again and again such as Fantastic Mr Fox by Road Dahl and my ultimate favourites, the Harry Potter books. I can’t count how many times I have read the Philosopher’s Stone! I write a blog, Raising Noisy Beasties, and I’m excited to be on the Panel; reviewing and introducing the girls to some great, new stories.
Hi I’m Claire, mummy to two girls who are 4 and 1. We live in Cheshire. I blog about our days out and holidays, children’s books and other activities we do.
I’ve always loved books but rarely find time to read myself since becoming a mum. I love children’s books though and thankfully my girls do too.
It’s impossible to pick one favourite children’s book, I change my mind all the time. Today I’ll say Roald Dahl’s Matilda as I’m really looking forward to reading it with my daughters when they are older.

I’m Fee and I am currently a fully-fledged play at home Mum to a 3 year old boy, Aiden and a 1 year old girl called Faye. Before I had my two I had gained two Master’s degrees in Literature (oh to be young and just read all day long!). My Dad in particular brought me up with books as air as he sold second hand books so I have always been surrounded (quite literally) by them. My bookish ways have passed on to my kids and I now also run the linky #paperparadise over at www.oneofeachmeandmine.com as well as on all social media.
I’m Hayley and am mum to a 1 year old. ‘Book’ was one of my son’s first words and we spend hours reading them, although he mostly just loves turning the pages far too quickly at the moment . We’re based on the Devon/Dorset border by the sea and are in the middle of major house renovations so it’s mayhem when you add in the toddler, dog, working and general life! I blog about our experiences at Devon Mama
I’m Helen from South London and I’m a first time Mum to my nine month old book lover Alexander. I’m trying to instil in my son a love of books from a very young age and he already will choose a book himself and flick through it and cry when we finish a book and he doesn’t want it to be over! My favourite children’s book when I was growing up was The Jolly Postman. I loved all the letters you can take out and read and I can’t wait for my son to be old enough to not destroy it!
I’m Holly, Mom to Toby who is 15 months old. We live just south of Birmingham and love outdoors adventures (followed by bedtime stories!). I try and focus on crafts, culture and countryside on my blog but most of the time, I end up just writing random posts.
I’m Jade. I have two young boys and we have another bundle due in November. All three children have two years in between. We live in Manchester and we are a co-sleeping, breastfeeding, babywearing, home educating family. I’ve worked with children for 10+ years and my background is child development. I blog at www.rawchildhood.co.uk, and we also vlog over on YouTube all about child development and parenting.
Thimble and Twig is a celebration of our family – of things we love to make and do as well as snippets of our thoughts and feelings and adventures we have along the way! We have 4 amazing little people who are aged 8, 6, 3 and 1 years old and we love having outdoor adventures in our hometown of London. Our favourite all time reads are… ‘Once they were Giants’, ‘Dogger’, and ‘The Tiger who Came to Tea’.
Hello, I’m Jenni from Edinburgh, mum to Oskar (age 6.5) and Alfred Fox (age 2.5). I come from a family of bookworms, and seem to have successfully passed my love of books on to my boys – they are always begging for “just one more” at bedtime. I write a family blog at The Bear & The Fox, where I regularly share reviews of our favourite books, amongst other things. My favourite children’s book growing up was anything by Astrid Lindgren – I own almost every children’s book she has ever written!
Hello I’m Jessica Meek and I live in the beautiful county of Norfolk with my husband Adam and my two boys Samuel who’s 2 and Elijah who is just 5 months.
We love books and love watching the boys snuggled up listening to a bedtime story it’s one of my favourite parts of the day!
I blog about the highs and lows of our family life, books and products we love at www.anorfolkmummy.co.uk.
My all time favourite children’s book is ‘Old bear stories’ by Jane Hissey, it was one of my favourite’s when I was little.
I’m Kayley, mum to two-year-old Harry and our newborn daughter Megan. My little boy is obsessed with books and loves telling me stories (he can tell We’re Going on a Bear Hunt word for word from memory!) so the Parent Panel is the perfect project from his point of view! I’m also a teacher so love to be part of anything that promotes a love of reading. I share our adventures on my blog, www.friendlyfirstfoods.co.uk It’s mostly foodie posts but also pregnancy, family life and general things that we love!
I’m Laura and my mini bookworm is Amy (she’s almost 20m – gosh where did the time go?!). I’m mostly a SAHM (or “Domestic Engineer” as I sometimes like to call it!) and I work one day a week as a PA for a small charity project.
My husband and I love books, and we are so happy to see our daughter getting really excited about reading. She’s started to show preferences for certain books now – the same one a bazillion times, anyone??!
We are always on the lookout for great new titles and recommendations, and we love ‘extending’ a book’s play-value by linking the topic into a craft activity.
Visit Laura’s Triggy Tales blog.
I have always loved books, my earliest memories are of unwrapping new books at Christmas, and looking for the notes my mum had written inside the front cover as to why she thought I’d love the book. I’m so pleased my children Athena and Arlo (who are four and two) seem to have picked up my love for books too! We live on the sunnyish South Coast, and when we’re not reading we can be found at the beach quite a lot! In fact I often read at the beach whilst the little ones are playing! Our favourite books are anything by Julia Donaldson (them) and my own favourites are The Secret Garden and Black Beauty.
We blog at www.ScrapbookBlog.co.uk, which acts as a Scrapbook of our Lives.
I’m Lisa and mummy to Lily who is 2.5 years, and I am 6 months pregnant, with Lily being very excited about becoming a big sister (although she insists she only wants a baby sister!).
We’ve been book worms together since she was born… I read her every Harry Potter book and lots of Roald Dahl when she was a baby, but now she chooses her own books and loves all things Julia Donaldson and Princess Polly. We love discovering new books and are regular features at our local library.
I live and work in Coventry. I work full time for The Herbert Art Gallery and Museums, as Family Learning Officer. I plan all the family programming and events, including the early years activities – sensory play, messy play and weekly story and rhyme sessions.

I’m Sarah and mum to three children, aged four, three and one. We live in Greater Manchester and I home educate my eldest who was old enough to start school this month. I blog at letthembesmall.com and share our favourite books and activities.
Hi I’m Vicki from Northampton and I am first time mum to my 6 month old tiny man Joseph. I have always loved reading, my favourites are the Harry Potter series, I can read them time and time again! I absolutely love story time with my son every evening before bed, The Gruffalo and Sam’s Super Stinky Socks always get a good reaction from Joseph although he does enjoy the Indestructibles books!
The Books & Pieces Parent Panel was created to bring together a community of book-loving parents to give honest reviews of Books & Pieces’ books and to share their experiences of enjoying books with their little people.
