It’s August and so understandably our thoughts turn to our little people starting nursery or even school (my youngest starts later this month – eek!).
With that in mind, I’ve chosen Maisy Goes to Nursery by Lucy Cousins as my August book pick.
Maisy goes to Nursery is a simple, brightly illustrated story about – unsurprisingly! – Maisy’s day at nursery.
It’s such a perfect overview of a day at nursery – it covers everything from the named pegs, story time, snacks, painting, nap time, outdoor play, home time, and even the little toilets and washing your hands!
It’s an ideal book for sharing with little ones who are about to start nursery, with new starters who are maybe a little reluctant to attend, and even with children who already happily go to nursery – it’s a great conversation starter to talk about what they do there each day (it was always so hard to squeeze details from my boys!).
I love how straightforward and true-to-life the Maisy series is. And in this one, there’s something weirdly reminiscent about the art easels.
