In case you’ve failed to notice, it’s nearly Mother’s Day, so what better way to celebrate that by snuggling down with your little people with a mummy-themed book.
Here are three magnificent mummy books currently available in my 3 for £10 offer:
I Love My Mummy
A rhyming ode to mummies everywhere, I Love My Mummy by Giles Andreae and Emma Dodd is a fun story book perfect for sharing with even the littlest of people. It’s written by the man who brought you ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance’ and it will definitely make you chuckle. My favourite line has to be: “I like to watch her brush her hair, and dance round in her underwear!” Come on, don’t tell me you don’t do that too?!
You can watch me read I Love My Mummy on my YouTube channel.
The Mummy Shop
When one boy’s mummy makes him tidy his room, help her in the supermarket AND tells him it’s time for bed when he’s only just started playing, he was cross; so cross in fact that when he sees an ad in the paper the next day for The Mummy Shop, he gives them a call. But he soon finds out he had the perfect mummy all along.
This is a great book for older littlies who will sit through a slightly longer story. I love the bright illustrations from the fabulous Lauren Beard.
My Mummy is Magic
One of my newest titles, My Mummy is Magic follows a little one and their mum as they find magic in the simplest of things.
I particularly like this book for two reasons:
- Because the main character could be either a boy or a girl
- The Mummy is shown going to work – I don’t see this very often in children’s books and it’s not only important for role modelling, but also to reassure your little people that you’ll always come back for them. These are the lines I love: “I think my mummy’s magic – and everybody knows. They need my mummy’s magic, and so off to work she goes. There are times I really miss her, and I wish that she would stay…but just like magic soon she’s back, as though she never went away!”
What about Grandma?
Want to get Grandma in on the act? My little people are currently enjoying How to Hide a Lion from Grandma – a brilliant follow up to How to Hide a Lion by Helen Stephens.
All the stories mentioned are among over 80 quality children’s books available to buy on my 3 for £10 deal.
